As I am doing an actual project on beaches on the East coast, I type in jersey shore on Goole images. I was not thinking about the show, nor was it even on my mind, but guess what images came up when I typed in Jersey Shore? J wow and her gigantic boobs that are too big for her body, Sammie and Ron who have the most drama filled relationship I've ever seen, Snooki who is just crazy, but hilarious, Denna who is just nuts, Mike "The Situation" who should not be hitting the clubs at his age, and last, but not least Pauly D and Vinny who i actually like! I saw maybe 2 pictures of the actual shore! Funny Right? This really made me wonder how reality tv has really brainwashed out society, including myself sometimes.
Now I can't sit here and say I don't enjoy the drama filled episodes of Jersey Shore, because I do. There is something entertaining about watching drama that isn't yours and knowing that there are others out there who are more then happy to embarrass themselves on national television. There is also something really disturbing about it when your 8 year old little sister can tell you all the names of the Jersey Shore cast when she doesn't even watch the show! How the hell is this possible? The last thing I want is my little sister going around saying "GTL"! But that's too late because she already knows what it means!
The cast of jersey shore has so much influence on our society. If you go to ocean city, every t-shirt shop has a shirt with a slogan from the Jersey shore. My favoriate one being said by Paul D and Vinny, "SHE'S TOO YOUNG FOR YOU BRO". Although they have catchy slogans, their behavior is not something that teens should embrace or look up to. It is not cool to be so drunk on the beach in the middle of the day and get arrested. If that happened to any random person, they would be put in jail, but Snooki goes to jail for what? 15 MINUTES! WOW! Great role model to your son!
Season 6 airs on October 4. Now that Snooki is a mom i am interested to see how society sees her. Are people going to compare what she did then to the type of mother she is? It is questions like these that viewers should be thinking about. Does their behavior demonstrate humor or stupidity? I don't think young teens and adults should look to them as role models. They do not have real jobs and they get paid to start drama! That is not reality. This does not set the right example for society If getting drunk and acting a sloppy mess defines our society, then maybe I will move to Mars!
I am almost embarrassed to say I watch this show and sometimes use their phrases in a jokingly manor because as I am writing this, I realize what IDIOTS they are. My career goals are not to become famous my flashing my boobs and being a drunk mess. I don't think anybody should look to that as a career, but sadly this is what people get famous for. Now I will be a tad bit nice and say their are real life issues brought up in the show; like Sammie and Rons relationship. It is to hard to tell what is real or fake though. Are they that crazy together off camera, or is it just an act? I just can't take anything out of this show seriously.
I think this show is a horrible representation of our society and people should not look up to any of them as examples!
I am not proud to say that I watch this show either but atleast I know that its nonsense and not our reality. I watch it for entertainment purposes and not because the charachters are ones I look up to in any way shape or form. Unfortunately I feel that alot of youth (teenagers) unfortunately do see these clowns as role models and not entertainment for the night.
